Andre Dawson will be honored with the Loyal and Meritorious Award at the 78th Annual Pitch and Hit Club Awards Banquet. The banquet will be held on Sunday, January 18th at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 Convention Center Drive, Tinley Park. Doors open at 3:30PM for autographs and the memorabilia auction. Dinner begins at 5PM.
Dawon finished his 21-year career with 2,774 hits, 438 HR’s, 1,591 RBI’s, .279 BA and a WAR of 64.8.
In addition, he was an eight-time All-Star, NL MVP in 1987 with the Cubs, NL Rookie-of-the-year in 1977, eight-time Gold Glove Award Winner, and four-time Silver Slugger Award Winner. The Montreal Expos retired his No. 10 and inducted him into their Hall-of-Fame. He is also in the Washington Nationals Ring of Honor and the Chicago Cubs Hall-of-Fame. In 2010 he was elected to the Baseball Hall-of-Fame. The Pitch & Hit Club honored him in 2012 with their Lou Boudreau Hall-of-Fame Award.
Dawson is currently an Ambassador for the Chicago Cubs.
