Gene Honda, public address announcer for the Chicago White Sox (starting in 1985, full-time since 1991) will receive the Lou Boudreau Hall of Fame Award along with White Sox catcher A. J. Pierzynski at the 77th annual January 19th Banquet.

Honda was born and raised on Chicago’s north side. He attended Senn High School and graduated in 1972. He later attended the University of Illinois where he studied engineering, finance and broadcasting.

He also has been with the Blackhawks since the 2001-02 season, the DePaul Blue Deamons, the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, Illinois Fighting Illini Football (since 2012), and the NCAA Final Four (since 2010).

Honda is the only person to have announced at the MLB World Series, MLB All-Star Game, NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, NCAA Final Four, and NCAA Frozen Four.
