Kenny McReynolds will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 78th Annual Pitch and Hit Club Awards Banquet. The banquet will be held on Sunday, January 18th at the Tinley Park Convention Center, 18451 Convention Center Drive, Tinley Park. Doors open at 3:30PM for autographs and the memorabilia auction. Dinner begins at 5PM.
Kenny McReynolds started his career at WVON Radio in Chicago. He later worked as sports director for radio stations WGCI, WBMX and WVAZ-FM.
McReynolds move into television was as weekend sports anchor and reporter for WFLD-Fox 32 in Chicago. He was also morning sports anchor on WCIU-TV, as well as one of the hosts of the hit sports tv show “Time Out” which aired on WTTW/PBS Chicago.
Often referred to as Coach, McReynolds worked as an assistant basketball coach for DePaul University under the legendary Hall of Fame coach, Ray Meyer. He later went on to work for the NBA as a scout for the Orlando Magic, the Charlotte Bobcats and the Golden State Warriors.
McReynolds is presently sports director for WWME-WCIU-TV and a reporter for the BIG TEN NETWORK. One of the voices of high school sports on CN-100 Weigel Broadcasting and for the Comcast Network providing color commentary on all live high school football and basketball games broadcast on ME-TV and WCIU. He is also one of the hosts of “The Reporters” on Marquee Sports Network.
On his longstanding show, “CPS Sports Edition,” he has interviewed everyone from Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Andre Dawson to Academy Award winner Common and Cubs owner Tom Ricketts. He’s interviewed three Chicago Mayors, Richard M. Daly, Rahm Emmanuel, Lori Lightfoot and one Senator who would become the President of the United States, Barack Obama. He’s even interviewed Rocky’s biggest nemesis ‘Apollo Creed’ better known as Carl Weathers.
McReynolds has always been an advocate for young athletes. Not only does he listen to family concerns but he also helps student athletes find financial aid. He is a mentor and supporter who goes beyond what is expected—sometimes even loaning them clothing for interviews and meetings.
Former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn honored him by declaring Feb 18, 2013 Kenny McReynolds Day.
Feb.11th 2023 was also proclaimed Kenny McReynolds Day by Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, in honor of him broadcasting 2500 High School events.
